Fractional-order (FrOr) models have a high potential to improve pulmonary science. These models could be useful for biomechanical studies and diagnostic purposes, offering accurate models with an improved ability to describe nature. This paper evaluates the performance of the Forced Oscillation (FO) associated with integer (InOr) and FrOr models in the analysis of respiratory alterations in work-related asthma (WRA).
Sixty-two individuals were evaluated 31 healthy and 31 with WRA with mild obstruction. Patients were analyzed pre- and post-bronchodilation. The diagnostic accuracy was evaluated using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC). Initially, the use of InOr and FrOr models increased our understanding of the WRA physiopathology, showing increased peripheral resistance, damping, and hysteresivity. The FrOr model (AUC = 0.970) outperformed standard FO (AUC = 0.929), as well as InOr modeling (AUC = 0.838) in the diagnosis of respiratory changes, achieving high accuracy. FrOr improved the curve fitting (MSEt = 0.156 ± 0.340; R
= 3.026 ± 1.072) in comparison with the InOr model (MSEt = 0.367 ± 0.991; R
= 3.363 ± 1.098). Finally, we demonstrated that bronchodilator use increased dynamic compliance, as well as reduced damping and peripheral resistance.
Taken together, these results show clear evidence of the utility of FO associated with fractional-order modeling in patients with WRA, improving our knowledge of the biomechanical abnormalities and the diagnostic accuracy in this disease.

Pyrethroid-treated mosquito nets are currently the mainstay of vector control in Côte d’Ivoire. However, resistance to pyrethroids has been reported across the country, limiting options for insecticide resistance management due to the paucity of alternative insecticides. Two types of insecticide-treated nets (ITNs), ITNs with pyrethroids and the synergist piperonyl butoxide (PBO), and Interceptor®G2 nets, a net treated with a combination of chlorfenapyr and alpha-cypermethrin, are believed to help in the control of pyrethroid-resistant mosquitoes.

In past few years, long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been reported to play regulatory roles during cancer progression. LncRNA SNHG10 has been explored in several sorts of cancers. However, its detailed role and mechanism are still not well understood in glioma.
Expression levels of genes were evaluated by RT-qPCR. EdU, TUNEL, sphere formation, wound healing and transwell assays appraised the effect of SNHG10 on glioma cellular processes. The interaction between molecules was examined by ChIP, RIP, RNA pull down and luciferase reporter assays.
High level of SNHG10 was detected in glioma cells. Functional assay confirmed that SNHG10 promoted the proliferation, migration, invasion and stemness of glioma cells. Moreover, miR-532-3p was validated to bind with SNHG10 and expressed at a low level in glioma cells. Importantly, miR-532-3p exerted inhibitory functions in glioma. Furthermore, it was found that FBXL19 targeted by miR-532-3p facilitated cell growth and stemness in glioma, and that SNHG10 worked in glioma by increasing FBXL19 expression through sequestering miR-532-3p. More importantly, ETS1 promoted the transcription of SNHG10 and it mediated contribution to the malignant behaviors of glioma cells by SNHG10/miR-532-3p/FBXL19 signaling.

Although advanced non-squamous non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients have significantly better survival outcomes after pemetrexed based treatment, a subset of patients still show intrinsic resistance and progress rapidly. Therefore we aimed to use a blood-based protein signature (VeriStrat, VS) to analyze whether VS could identify the subset of patients who had poor efficacy on pemetrexed therapy.
This study retrospectively analysed 72 advanced lung adenocarcinoma patients who received first-line pemetrexed/platinum or combined with bevacizumab treatment.
Plasma samples from these patients were analysed using VS and classified into the Good (VS-G) or Poor (VS-P) group. The relationship between efficacy and VS status was further investigated. Of the 72 patients included in this study, 35 (48.6%) were treated with pemetrexed plus platinum and 37 (51.4%) were treated with pemetrexed/platinum combined with bevacizumab. this website Among all patients, 60 (83.3%) and 12 (16.7%) patients were classified as VS-G and intrinsic resistance to pemetrexed based regimens. We conducted Focus Group Discussions among 115 participants stratified by sex, age and socio-economic status and Key Informant Interviews among 25 stakeholders and Key Opinion Leaders among Yoruba living in Ibadan, Nigeria. We used Atlas-ti v.8.3.17 software to analyze the data, using thematic approach.
