As schools across the globe prepare for Back to School and transition to hybrid, remote, and in-person learning models educators are making use of Minecraft Education Edition to keep students engaged and connected. As part of our mission to help teachers as well as students and families in this unique transition Minecraft: Education Edition app is now available for download. Minecraft: Education Edition app is now available on Chromebooks.

Since Minecraft: Education Edition first was made available to schools in 2016 educators from all over the world have been seeking out when the platform will be extended to Chromebooks. We are thrilled to welcome Chromebook educators to the world of Minecraft and our global teaching community in partnership with the Google Education team!

This version of Minecraft Education Edition also features new features for users of every type of device including Chromebooks, Windows, Mac and iPads. These features enable hybrid and remote learning in preparation for Back to School. We have 11 new STEM lessons, which include the unique Minecraft world that was developed in conjunction with the American Beekeeping Federation’s Kids and Bees Program. This Minecraft world will introduce children to honeybees and their pollination. These include new mobs like bees and foxes as well as beehives and honey blocks, as well as an improved library of lesson plans with tagged learning activities to make searching for lessons much easier.

How to obtain Minecraft: Education Edition for Chromebooks

Users of Chromebook, iPad, Windows, and Windows will automatically be upgraded to the latest Minecraft: Education Edition. blastermusic Mac users will need to install it manually. The Chromebook version Minecraft: Education Edition has the same features and features as the other versions. Students can collaborate with each other on Chromebooks or iPads. If your school is licensed by Microsoft 365 for Education (A3 or A5) You already have access to Minecraft Education Edition. Minecraft: Education Edition can be licensed through annual subscriptions. These subscriptions are available through the Microsoft Store for Education through volume licensing agreements or through resellers that are partners. Logging in requires an account with a Microsoft account. However, we are working to make it possible for users to log in using a Google account.

Teachers who are attempting Minecraft Education Edition on Chromebook for the first time can begin by completing online trainings, starting lessons and onboarding materials.

Minecraft: Education Edition is an online game-based learning platform that helps students learn important 21st century skills such as coding and imaginative problem solving. There are hundreds of standards-aligned lessons such as design challenges, design problems and STEM curriculum that can be found online and in-game. Teachers can also utilize the customizable templates to create their own learning activities.
