    Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are susceptible to Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI), resulting in poor outcomes and recurrence; therefore, the molecular characterization of C. difficile in IBD patients in China needs further investigation.

    C. difficile strains were isolated and identified from faecal samples of adult and paediatric IBD patients. Toxigenic strains were typed using multilocus sequence typing and whole genomic sequencing (WGS) to construct the phylogenetic tree. Here, we review the matrisome in several fibrotic diseases, as well as normal tissues, with a focus on physicochemical properties. Stiffness generally increases with the abundance of fibrillar collagens, the major constituent of ECM, with similar mathematical trends for fibrosis as well as adult tissues from soft brain to stiff bone and heart development. Changes in expression of other core matrisome and matrisome-associated proteins or proteoglycans contribute to tissue stiffening in fibrosis by organizing collagen, crosslinking ECM, and facilitating adhesion of myofibroblasts. Understanding how ECM composition and mechanics coevolve during fibrosis can lead to better models and help with antifibrotic therapies.

    This is a case series of 28 consecutive patients who underwent tubular retractor-assisted minimally invasive extraforaminal L5/S1 microdiskectomy between 2017 and 2020 for L5 radiculopathy. Preoperative variables include demographics (age, gender); imaging characteristics (presence of spondylolisthesis, grade and presence of dynamic instability); and patient-reported measures of pain and function. Postoperatively, any complications, pain, and function were documented at 1-day, 3-month, and 12-months follow-up. Statistical analysis involved descriptive analysis of measured variables.

    Patients (13 females and 15 males) had a median age of 62 years (range 32-92). One patient demonstrated grade I spondylolisthesis with no dynamic instability. Twenty-six patients (93%) achieved complete pain resolution during the follow-up period. Two patients had persistent or recurrent radicular pain, 1 of whom resolved completely with a redo tubular retractor-assisted minimally invasive microdiskectomy. No other complications were noted during the postoperative follow-up.

    This study aimed to compare the educational reliability of laparoscopic hysterectomy videos on YouTube and WebSurg platforms.

    We performed an online search with the keyword “laparoscopic hysterectomy” on YouTube and WebSurg. On WebSurg, the surgical interventions in gynecology section were selected. On YouTube, the most relevant surgical videos according to algorithm of YouTube were included. 22 YouTube and 22 WebSurg videos were included in the study. Technical analysis were performed via calculation of ratios such as view/day, like/view, like/subscriber, view/subscriber, and Video Power Index. The videos were evaluated with usefulness and laparoscopic surgery video educational guidelines (LAP-VEGaS) scoring systems.

    View/day ratio was higher on YouTube than WebSurg [8.8 (42.1) and 2.5 (5.1), respectively; p=0.02]. Like/view ratio was lower on YouTube than WebSurg [0.006 (0.01) and 0.01 (0.02), respectively; p=0.001]. A significant difference was obtained only in the treatment section of usefulness scoring system [0 (0-2), and 0 (0-1) for YouTube and WebSurg, respectively; p=0.04]. However, the population pre-existing immunity to these two adenoviruses in China, which may reduce vaccine efficacy, remains largely unknown. Here, we established micro-neutralizing (MN) assays to investigate the seroprevalence of neutralizing antibodies (nAbs) against HAdV26 and HAdV35 in the general population of Guangdong and Shandong provinces, China. A total of 1184 serum samples were collected, 47.0% and 15.8% of which showed HAdV26 and HAdV35 nAb activity, respectively. HAdV26-seropositive individuals tended to have more moderate nAbs titers (201-1000), while HAdV35-seropositive individuals appeared to have more low nAbs titers (72-200). The seropositive rates of HAdV26 and HAdV35 in individuals younger than 20 years old were very low. The seropositive rates of HAdV26 increased with age before 70 years old and decreased thereafter, while HAdV35 seropositive rates did not show similar characteristics.
