To investigate the performance of combined T2 mapping and T2 iterative decomposition of water and fat with echo asymmetry and least-squares estimation (IDEAL) in orbital tissues to predict the therapeutic efficacy of intravenous glucocorticoids (IVGCs) for active and moderate-to-severe thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (TAO).
Sixty-three active and moderate-to-severe TAO patients (responsive group, n=35; unresponsive group, n=28) who underwent orbital MRI before receiving IVGCs were retrospectively enrolled. Baseline clinical characteristics and imaging parameters were analyzed and compared between the two groups of different therapeutic efficacy. Binary logistic regression analysis was conducted to determine the independent predictors, the predictive performance of which was evaluated using receiver operating characteristic curve analysis.
The mean T2 relaxation time of extraocular muscle (EOM-T2RT
) (P=0.001), maximum T2RT of EOM (EOM-T2RT
) (P=0.001), mean water fraction of EOM (EOM-WF
) (P<0.0. EOM-T2RTmean and EOM-WFmax may become promising IVGC treatment response predictors.
To correlate CT-findings in patients with closed-loop small bowel obstruction (CL-SBO) with perioperative findings, to identify patients who require immediate surgical intervention. Secondary purpose was to substantiate the role of radiologists in predicting perioperative outcome.
Data were retrospectively obtained from patients with surgically confirmed CL-SBO, between September 2013 and September 2019. Three radiologists reviewed CTs to assess defined CT features and predict patient outcome for bowel wall ischemia and necrosis using a likelihood score. Univariate statistical analyses were performed and diagnostic performance parameters and interobserver agreement were assessed for each feature.
Of 148 included patients, 28 (19%) intraoperatively had viable bowel and 120 (81%) had bowel wall ischemia or necrosis. Most CT characteristics, as well as the likelihood of ischemia and necrosis, found fair or moderate multirater agreement. Increased attenuation of bowel wall and mesenteric vessels on non-cont correlated with perioperative outcome of bowel wall ischemia and necrosis in patients with CL-SBO.
To investigate the diagnostic performance of the overall Vesical Imaging Reporting and Data System (VI-RADS) score and its individual magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) parameters in assessing grade and muscle invasiveness of bladder cancer (BC).
This IRB-approved retrospective, single-center, cross-sectional study included patients with BC wo underwent 3 Tesla preoperative multiparametric (mp)-MRI including T2-weighted (T2w), diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) and dynamic contrast enhanced (DCE) sequences. An independent evaluation according to VI-RADS was performed by two radiologists in separate sessions, blinded to histological findings.
The mean age of 59 included patients was 68.2 (±13.6 standard deviation) years. Among bladder cancer patients, 26 (51%) were identified as high grade and 14 (27.5%) as muscle invasive urothelial carcinomas in histological sections. The area under the curve (AUC) for the overall VI-RADS score to predict muscle invasion was 0.986 (R1) and 0.992 (R2). this website The AUC to diagnose he image acquisition may be approached without sacrificing diagnostic accuracy.
Body composition is associated with mortality; however its routine assessment is too time-consuming.
To demonstrate the value of artificial intelligence (AI) to extract body composition measures from routine studies, we aimed to develop a fully automated AI approach to measure fat and muscles masses, to validate its clinical discriminatory value, and to provide the code, training data and workflow solutions to facilitate its integration into local practice.
We developed a neural network that quantified the tissue components at the L3 vertebral body level using data from the Liver Tumor Challenge (LiTS) and a pancreatic cancer cohort. We classified sarcopenia using accepted skeletal muscle index cut-offs and visceral fat based its median value. We used Kaplan Meier curves and Cox regression analysis to assess the association between these measures and mortality.
Applying the algorithm trained on LiTS data to the local cohort yielded good agreement [>0.8 intraclass correlation (ICC)]; when trained on both datasets, it had excellent agreement (>0.9 ICC). The pancreatic cancer cohort had 136 patients (mean age 67±11years; 54% women); 15% had sarcopenia; mean visceral fat was 142cm
. Concurrent with prior research, we found a significant association between sarcopenia and mortality [mean survival of 15±12 vs. 22±12 (p<0.05), adjusted HR of 1.58 (95% CI 1.03-3.33)] but no association between visceral fat and mortality. The detector analysis took 1±0.5s.

In this study, an innovative 4 stages cascade anaerobic digestion system was researched to (1) comprehensively clarify whether cascading configuration enhances WAS hydrolysis, and to (2) better understand the governing hydrolysis kinetics in this system. The cascade system consisted of three 2.2 L ultra-short solids retention times (SRT) continuous stirred tank reactors (CSTRs) and one 15.4 L CSTR. The cascade system was compared with a reference conventional CSTR digester (22 L) in terms of process performance, hydrolytic enzyme activities and microbial community dynamics under mesophilic conditions (35 °C). The results showed that the cascade system achieved a high and stable total chemical oxygen demand (tCOD) reduction efficiency of 40-42%, even at 12 days total SRT that corresponded to only 1.2 days SRT each in the first three reactors of the cascade. The reference-CSTR converted only 31% tCOD into biogas and suffered process deterioration at the applied low SRTs.
