Patients were divided into 2 groups according to their pharynx volume, pharyngeal volume lower than 16 mL (n = 11) and equal or higher than 16 mL (n = 13). Pharynx volume in low volume group was 10.4 ± 3.6 mL (n = 11), and the counterpart in high volume group was 20.8 ± 5.5 mL (n = 13). The incidence of difficult intubation was significantly higher in low pharynx volume group than in high pharynx volume group (54.5% (6/11) vs 7.6% (1/13), P = .023). Bedside screening tests including modified Mallampati test, inter-incisor gap and thyromental distance, or radiological variables such as anterior neck soft tissue thickness to vocal cords were not different between the 2 groups. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of ultrasound-guided transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block on the postoperative quality of recovery and intraoperative remifentanil requirement in laparoscopic nephrectomy.

    Sixty patients who underwent laparoscopic nephrectomy were randomly divided into 2 groups TAP and Control groups. After induction of anesthesia and before awakening from anesthesia, the TAP group was administered 40 mL of 0.375% ropivacaine and the Control group was administered 40 mL of normal saline to deliver ultrasound-guided TAP block using 20 mL of each of the above drugs. The main objectives of this study were to evaluate the effect of the TAP block on qualovery and is effective for postoperative pain control but does not affect the amount of remifentanil required for adequate anesthesia during surgery.

    In conclusion, we determined that ultrasound-guided TAP block during laparoscopic nephrectomy improves the quality of postoperative recovery and is effective for postoperative pain control but does not affect the amount of remifentanil required for adequate anesthesia during surgery.

    Anorectal malignant melanoma regularly exhibits a biological aggressive behavior which is metastasizing to lung, bone, brain or other organs and tissues early in the course of the disease. Compared with melanoma in the other parts of the body, anorectal malignant melanoma is relatively rare. Metastatic to the breast tissue from anorectal malignant melanoma or from other extra-mammary tumors are very rare.

    We report the case of a 65-year-old female who suffering from anorectal malignant melanoma and implemented complete surgical resection. Two years later, a space-occupying lesion in the outer upper quadrant of the right breast was observed on a chest CT.

    The right breast was excised, and breast metastasis of anorectal malignant melanoma was histologically confirmed.

    Radical mastectomy of the right breast was performed, and no lymph nodes or other metastases were observed.

    The patient’s operative course was uneventful. The patient completely recovered and transfers to the oncology department for further treatment.

    To study the effect of aerobic exercise on cognitive function of post-stroke patients, especially to identify specific interventions that the most likely to maximize cognitive benefits of stroke patients.

    According to the PRISMA principle, the databases of Web of Science, EMBASE, PubMed and Cochrane library were searched to collect randomized controlled trial data of aerobic exercise on cognitive function intervention of post-stroke patients. The Cochrane bias risk evaluation instrument was used to assess the methodological quality of included studies. Review Manager 5.4.1 software was used to analyze heterogeneity and potential publication bias.

    A total of 11 criteria studies that satisfied the association between aerobic exercise and cognitive function following stroke were selected to be included in the review. Global cognition ability was significantly improved after aerobic exercise intervention (0.51; 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.16-0.86; P = .004), moderate intensity had the largest effect size on improving global cognition ability (0.98; 95% CI 0.48-1.47; P = .0001), none of cognitive flexibility, working memory, selective attention and conflict resolution showed the significant difference from zero.
