The major concern that has confronted surgeons during the COVID-19 pandemic is the risk of infection during surgery. So far, no studies have found SARS-CoV-2 in surgical smoke, and if it was found, whether it was infectious or not is unknown. To date, no evidence shows that respiratory viruses can be transmitted through a surgical plume or an aerosolized gas. There are various advantages of laparoscopy over laparotomy that must be kept in mind in the COVID-19 era, such as early recovery and shorter hospital stay, which can greatly help to conserve valuable hospital resources, and reduced risk of spillage of blood and body fluids, which can help to reduce transmission risk; most importantly, the distance between surgeons and between surgeons and patient is greater. Certain precautionary measures can be taken to reduce SARS-CoV-2 transmission during laparoscopy. Whenever possible, it should be the surgical option of choice. The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has spread worldwide. It is still a pandemic and poses major health problem across the globe. In our review, clinical characteristics and laboratory parameters of COVID-19 patients were compiled systematically, with special reference to pregnant women in order to understand the disease course. An extensive literature search on various scientific databases for relevant manuscripts was conducted, which yielded 7 manuscripts for final analysis. The most common symptoms were fever (85%), cough (70.63%), chest tightness (37.36%), expectoration (33.27%), fatigue (32%), dyspnea (31.95%), and shortness of breath (31.19%), while hemoptysis (1.0%) was the least common. The associated comorbidities were hypertension (21.6%) and diabetes (10.0%). In terms of hematological parameters, lower total leukocyte counts were observed in 65% of cases and biochemical parameters, patients demonstrated elevated levels of albumin (53.72%), lactate dehydrogenase (45.71%), and natriuretic peptide (34.84%); however, total bilirubin was elevated in only 8% of cases. In the acute inflammatory cytokine profile, C-reactive protein (59.0%), tumor necrosis factor (58.0%), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (57.0%), interleukin-2 (IL- 2, 54.0%), and IL-6 (52.0%) levels were increased, while prolactin levels (6.5%) were minimally elevated. The recovery rate was approximately 41%, and mortality was about 6.5%. this website The study also concluded that the clinical symptoms of COVID-19 were similar among pregnant and non-pregnant women. There was no evidence of vertical transmission of COVID-19 infection. This review critically analyzed COVID-19 as a public health hazard in order to help policy makers, health care givers, and primary physicians to promote early diagnosis and prevention. The care of burn patients varies obviously in different areas worldwide. In order to improve the level of burn care, the International Society for Burn Injury published the first part of practice guidelines for burn care in 2016 in the journal of Burns. This article was written with the purpose to interpret the main points of this part of the guidelines. For the wounds caused by burns and other various reasons, the key of therapy is to close the open wounds in time by surgical operation. One of the most important methods is autologous skin grafting. However, for large area and long-term chronic trauma, the lack of autologous skin makes the treatment a huge challenge. For this reason, clinical medical workers have gradually developed miniature free skin grafting through continuous research. This paper reviews the relevant skin grafting techniques, including pinch free skin grafting, stamp free skin grafting, meek grafting, microne free skin grafting, etc.Keratinocytes (KCs) are the main cells that constitute the epidermis, which have immunogenicity and play important roles in immunity. KCs-mediated immune response plays an initiating role in the innate immune response. KCs recognize antigens mainly through Toll-like receptors and nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptors. After being activated, KCs up-regulate the expressions of cytokines, chemokines, and antibacterial peptides via signal transduction pathways and help initiate skin immune response. KCs also participate in early innate immune response by attracting inflammatory cells and innate immune cells such as mast cells and macrophages. Studies on the molecular biological mechanism and regulatory measures of KCs’ immunogenicity are of great significance for the construction of skin substitutes such as cell sheets to repair wounds. This article reviews the research advances in immunological properties and gene regulation of KCs.Fetal dermal mesenchymal stem cells (FDMSCs) are pluripotent stem cells derived from skin tissue of accidentally aborted fetuses of healthy pregnant women who are free of genetic diseases and do not take abortion drug. FDMSCs have exosome secretion activity, high proliferation and self-renewal abilities, low immunogenicity, and advantages of homing to damaged tissue and promoting tissue regeneration. In recent years, studies on basic biological characteristics, capacity of inducing differentiation in vitro, and promotion of skin wound repair provide new direction for the clinical treatment of burn patients in the future. In this review, we summarize the research advances of FDMSCs in promoting burn wound healing.Massive burns are catastrophic accidents, usually brings about serious injuries, vast social influence, and great difficulties in treatment. It can impose a big challenge on nursing managers with difficulty in nursing care quality assurance due to a surge of nursing workload within a short period of time and great pressure on nurses. In China, the nursing work mode for dealing with massive burns is to mobilize nursing manpower within the hospital or even outside the hospital by activating the emergency response plan. This mode, however, only ensures the adequacy of nursing staff, but not the professionalism of nursing specialty. In dealing with massive burns, the overseas nursing work mode pays more attentions to scientific transportation of patients, efficient triage, and quality control, which are more systematic and comprehensive. Based on the current status of medical treatment in China and our working experience in the Department of Burn Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Naval Medical University, this article reviewed and discussed the working mode from 2 perspectives, i.
