    To describe the creation of a statewide leadership training program for practicing pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. The 2 overarching goals were to (1) enable learners to develop foundational leadership skills that could be used at their place of work or would enable them to take on a new or advanced role and (2) help foster sustainability within our state pharmacy society through incorporation of the learners on committees and projects, bringing awareness to board member roles and functions. Overall, the program’s mission was to empower practicing pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to take on leadership roles within their organization and the state pharmacy society.

    Leadership training for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians can be variable, elusive, and costly. We provide our experiences in establishing a 1-year leadership certificate program affiliated with the state pharmacy society. In the first 4 years, a total of 15 program fellows have graduated, with 8 more set to finish in September 2022. Since completion of the program, a majority of the graduates have taken on new leadership positions (65% have accepted new leadership positions and 35% have been elected to state pharmacy society board positions).

    Implementation of a statewide pharmacy leadership program provided a low-cost, high-value option to develop local leaders, in affiliation with a state pharmacy society.This paper analyses the impact of introducing an alcohol minimum unit pricing policy on youth’s off-premise alcohol consumption. We rely on price elasticities derived using stated preference alcohol purchase data from a survey of 1024 university students in Lebanon. Selectively targeting drinks with high ethanol concentration by applying a minimum unit pricing (MUP) corresponding to the maximum price that respondents are willing to pay per beverage achieves a reduction in ethanol intake close to 0.23 l/month (∼28% of pre-MUP ethanol intake). Imposing a flat MUP corresponding to the average price respondents are willing to pay for all alcoholic beverages decreases ethanol intake by nearly half the reduction from the previous targeted MUP. This work provides evidence in favour of MUP in conjunction with taxation capable of substantially reducing alcohol consumption. We also document a positive welfare benefit of MUP.The objective of this study was to evaluate whether oversupplying metabolizable protein (MP) during late gestation influences glucose and insulin concentrations, and insulin resistance (IR) in late gestation and early lactation. Crossbred Hereford, first-lactation heifers were individually fed diets to supply 133% (HMP, n = 11) or 100% (CON, n = 10) of their predicted MP requirements for 55 ± 4 d (mean ± SD) prior to calving. All heifers received a common lactation ration formulated to meet postpartum requirements (103% MP and 126% ME). After feed was withheld for 12 h, cattle underwent an intravenous glucose tolerance test (IVGTT) on days -6.7 ± 0.9 and 14.3 ± 0.4 by infusing a 50% dextrose solution (1.36 g glucose/kg BW0.75) through a jugular catheter with plasma collected at -10, 0 (immediately after infusion), 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, and 120 min, respective to the infusion. Glucose and insulin concentrations were assessed. Insulin resistance indices (homeostasis model of insulin resistance arameters (i.e., max concentration and time to reach max concentration, nadir values, clearance rates and half-lives, area-under-the-curve, and insulin sensitivity index; P ≥ 0.20). Antepartum IVGTT IR indices indicated that HMP heifers were more (P ≤ 0.011) IR than their counterparts. Similarly, the prepartum HOMA-IR was greater (P = 0.033) for HMP heifers, suggesting increased IR. Postpartum IR indices did not (P ≥ 0.25) indicate that prepartum MP consumption impacted postpartum IR. Colostrum insulin concentration was increased (P = 0.004) by nearly 2-fold for HMP relative to CON heifers. These data demonstrate that prepartum MP overfeeding alters baseline glucose-insulin concentrations in late-pregnant beef heifers and increases colostrum insulin content without having carry-over effects on postpartum glucose-insulin concentrations and IR.Pericytes (PCs) are a mural support cell population elongated at intervals along the walls of capillaries. Recent studies reported that PCs are multipotent cells that are activated in response to tissue injury and contribute to the regenerative process. Using a C.B-17 mouse model of ischemic stroke, it has been proposed that normal brain pericytes (nPCs) are converted to ischemic pericytes (iPCs), some of which function as multipotent stem cells. Furthermore, oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD) promoted mesenchymal-epithelial transition in nPCs; however, nestin was not induced under OGD conditions. Triapine Therefore, further studies are needed to elucidate the PC reprogramming phenomenon. We herein isolated nPCs from the cortex of C.B-17 mice, and compared the traits of iPCs and nPCs. The results obtained showed that nPCs and iPCs shared common pericytic markers. Furthermore, intercellular levels of reactive oxygen species and the nuclear accumulation of nuclear factor erythroid-2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), a key player in antioxidant defenses, were higher in iPCs than in nPCs. Transcranial alternating current stimulation can provide a non-pharmacological alternative for adult patients with major depressive disorder. However, no study has used the stimulation to treat first-episode and drug-naïve patients with major depressive disorder. We used a randomized, double-blind, sham-controlled design to examine the clinical efficacy and safety of the stimulation in treating first-episode drug-naïve patients in a Chinese Han population. From 4 June 2018 to 30 December 2019, 100 patients were recruited and randomly assigned to receive 20 daily 40-min, 77.5 Hz, 15 mA, one forehead and two mastoid sessions of active or sham stimulation (n = 50 for each group) in four consecutive weeks (Week 4), and were followed for additional 4-week efficacy/safety assessment without stimulation (Week 8). The primary outcome was a remission rate defined as the 17-item Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS-17) score ≤ 7 at Week 8. Here, we report ATTED-II version 11, wherein we adopted a coexpression calculation methodology to balance the samples using principal component analysis and ensemble calculation. This approach has two advantages. First, omitting principal components with low contribution rates reduces the main contributors of noise. Second, balancing large differences in contribution rates enables considering various sample conditions entirely. In addition, based on RNAseq- and microarray-based coexpression data, we provide species-representative, integrated coexpression information to enhance the efficiency of interspecies comparison of the coexpression data. These coexpression data are provided as a standardized z-score to facilitate integrated analysis with different data sources. We believe that with these improvements, ATTED-II is more valuable and powerful for supporting interspecies comparative studies and integrated analyses using heterogeneous data.Serous carcinoma of the uterus (USC) is a pathological subtype of high-grade endometrial cancers, with no effective treatment for advanced cases. Since such refractory tumors frequently harbor antitumor immune tolerance, many immunotherapies have been investigated for various malignant tumors using immuno-competent animal models mimicking their local immunities. In this study, we established an orthotopic mouse model of high-grade endometrial cancer and evaluated the local tumor immunity to explore the efficacy of immunotherapies against USC. A multivariate analysis of 62 human USC cases revealed that the tumor-infiltrating cell status, few CD8+ cells and abundant myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs), was an independent prognostic factor (P less then 0.005). A murine endometrial cancer cell (mECC) was obtained from C57BL/6 mice via endometrium-specific deletion of Pten and Tp53, and another high-grade cell (HPmECC) was established by further overexpressing Myc in mECCs. HPmECCs exhibited higher capacities of migration and anchorage-independent proliferation than mECCs (P less then 0.
