Minecraft’s silent landscaper Steve has left his blocky world and entering Telltale’s world of stories: Minecraft is getting a “narrative-driven” game from the folks behind The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones games. Minecraft: Story Mode, like Telltale’s other works will be episodic and playable on a variety platforms when it launches “sometime in 2015.” Evidently, Microsoft’s pledge to keep Minecraft multiplatform is holding, even after the acquisition.

Telltale’s describing the game as a “partnership with Mojang,” and says it won’t exist as an extension of Minecraft — it’s a standalone episode series “driven by player-generated choices.” Gaming Both Mojang and Telltale point out that they’re working with the community to develop the story and Mojang specificaly says “We’re not planning to create an ‘official’ story for Steve (the main character in Minecraftor explaining the world of Minecraft in depth.”

We don’t have any photos or videos of the game in action, but we expect a similar, distinct style to Minecraft’s art style.
