The closure of air-bone gap was higher in the microdrill group with statistically significant differences. <br><b>Conclusion</b> Both manual perforator and microdrill have good hearing outcomes at six months after surgery. The manual perforator has better audiological outcomes than microdrill. Hence, the manual perforator is a safe technique and can be used in centers that do not have other methods to make the small fenestra.<b>Introduction</b> Tonsillectomy belongs to the most frequently performed surgical treatments; however, the necessity of its performance is questioned. Therefore, there are many attempts to unify and define the indications for the procedure. <br><b>Aim</b> The main objective of the current dissertation was an analysis of the clinical symptoms occurring in patients qualified for tonsillectomy, as well as a comparison of those with a histopathological image of the removed tonsils in a repeatedly carried out, unified pathomorphological examination. The secondary objective was the designation of the demographic profile, existing comorbidities, and complications in the form of postoperative bleeding in patients after tonsillectomy in own material. <br><b>Material and method</b> A retrospective analysis of 301 procedures of palatine tonsil removal was performed, which were completed in the years 2017-2019 at the Department of Otolaryngology with Division of Cranio-Manea in 33 (11%) patients. Primary bleeding occurred in 10 patients (3.34%), and secondary in 8 patients (2.66%). The most common comorbidities were cardiovascular burdens. <br><b>Conclusions</b> For most cases, clinical symptoms were confirmed by adequate features of removed material in histopathological examination. The most common histopathological diagnosis was tonsillar hyperthrophy.<b>Introduction </b>The aim of the study was to assess the effect of nasal mucosa irritants on the occurrence of chronic rhinosinusitis without/and with nasal polyps. <br><b>Material and methods</b> The study involved 100 adult participants, including 39 women and 61 men, aged 21-68, diagnosed and treated at the Department of Otolaryngology, ENT Oncology, Audiology and Phoniatrics at the University Clinical Hospital WAM in Łódź. Based on the otorhinolaryngological and imaging (CT) tests they were divided into two groups I – 50 patients, including 23 women and 27 men, aged 21-64 – with chronic rhinosinusitis without nasal polyps, II – 50 patients, including 16 women and 34 men, aged 22-68 – with chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps. The control group consisted of 50 people (group III), including 25 women and 25 men, aged 18-30, students of the Faculty of Military Medicine at the Medical University of Lodz. The conducted surveys confirm that the cause of chronic rhinosinusitis with polyps is multifactorial, but a significant factor affecting typical tissue remodeling in this disease is long-term breathing of polluted atmospheric air.<b>Objective</b> The feasibility, surgical outcomes and possible risks and complications encountered during a facelift procedure for patients with parapharyngeal space (PPS) tumor were analyzed. <br><b>Method</b> This retrospective analysis examined 10 patients who underwent surgery for PPS tumor using a facelift incision at our institutes between April 2015 and August 2019. <br><b>Results</b> This study included four retro-styloid (benign nerve sheath tumor) and six pre-styloid tumors (pleomorphic adenoma). Mean tumor dimensions were 4.1 x 4.2 x 3.8 cm respectively. None of the patients needed conversion to conventional open resection. Transient sensory changes in the auricle occurred in 30% of the patients; however, all recovered within four months. No recurrences were detected during a mean follow-up period of 16.6 months. <br><b>Conclusion </b>The facelift procedure provides adequate visualization, workspace and excellent cosmetic results in properly selected cases.<b>Objective</b> The aim of this study was to evaluate cases of of ear, nose and pharyngeal (ENT) foreign body (FB) in pediatric patients referred to the pediatric emergency department of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology in Tokat State Hospital (Turkey). <br><b>Methods</b> The paper comprises a retrospective study of all ENT foreign bodies presented to the pediatric emergency Department of Otorhinolaryngology in Tokat State Hospital (Turkey) between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2018. Subject to evaluation were also demographic and clinical characteristics of the patients, types and anatomic locations of FBs, locations of FB by age groups, the method used to remove FBs and the distribution of FB cases by months. <br><b>Results</b> A total of 829 FB cases were evaluated in this study. The mean age of patients was 47.8 ± 31.4 months. Of all patients, 404 (48.5%) were male, and 425 (51.2%) were female. The nose (58.7%) and the ear (20.2%) were the most common anatomical locations followed by mouth/pharynx/tonsil (12.3%), esophagus (6.2%) and the laryngotracheobronchial tree (2.4%). The most common FBs in different locations were beads in the nose (30.8%), beads in the ear (32.1%), fishbones in the mouth/pharynx/tonsil (56.8%), nuts and peanuts in laryngotracheobronchial tree (70%) and a coin/disc battery in the esophagus (80.7%). <br><b>Conclusion</b> FB in ENT is among the emergency conditions that require different diagnostic and treatment approaches based on anatomic localizations. Proper vision, adequate equipment and immobilization are important in the removal of ENT foreign bodies in children.
