Withdrawal symptoms of lithium have not been systematically assessed to date.

Systematic review of withdrawal symptoms after discontinuation of pharmacological treatment with lithium.

Systematic literature search in PubMed and reference lists of relevant articles. We included clinical trials and case reports.

Out of 249 articles, six met our inclusion criteria, entailing six trials and a case series. Four trials and three case reports point to the existence of a withdrawal syndrome after discontinuation of lithium. Occurrence of symptoms was not dependent on the primary disorder for which lithium was initiated. Frequently reported symptoms were irritability, restlessness and somatic symptoms like vertigo, dizziness or lightheadedness. Symptoms occurred within the first week and were generally mild and self-limiting within weeks.

Current evidence indicates that withdrawal symptoms after discontinuation of lithium can occur. There is a need for controlled studies of high methodological quality in order to assess predictors of and prevention strategies for discontinuation syndromes.

Study of sociodemographic and disorder-specific determinants of professional help-seeking in lifetime depression.

In the population-based SHIP-Trend-1 study (2016-2019), we assessed N = 490 adults with lifetime depression and their help-seeking behaviour. Gender, socioeconomic status and disorder-specific variables were implemented in age-stratified logistic regression models.

Men and older adults at the time of the survey sought less help than women and younger people. In the younger and middle age group severity level was associated with professional help-seeking, in the older age group professional help-seeking was more prevalent in case of physical causes for the depression.

We found age-specific differences in the determinants for professional help-seeking. this website Latent variables like age-specific experiences, values, and life styles may explain those differences.

Identification of intrinsic motivators involved in choosing psychiatry as a career path.

14 qualitative in-depth interviews were analysed systematically using coding frames.

Positive findings were the interpersonal focus and the holistic approach of psychiatry. Negative dimensions were the unfavorable image among colleagues, the lack of precision, prejudices and stigmatization. To interest more medical students, cases should be presented weighing psychiatric aspects as equally important to other medical aspects.

To increase the popularity of psychiatry, the prejudices inherent in the medical system need urgent addressing. Teaching should be conducted in case presentations. Psychiatric conditions, which are highly prevalent across all medical fields, need to be adequately represented.

Workplace exposures are considered to be high in hospital staff. Workplace interventions might be an appropriate way to reduce workplace exposures. Therefore, views of hospital staff on reasons and implications of workplace exposures were assessed and consequences for workplace interventions were considered.

Six focus groups and seven semi-structured interviews were conducted with 34 members of hospital staff in total. Qualitative Content Analysis was performed.

Stress occurs due to a lack of personnel, high workload, missing common-rooms for breaks and lunch, missing communication, a lack of clarity in work processes, team conflicts and a lack of appreciation. Social support, work breaks, reduction of working hours, physical activity and empowerment were mentioned as factors leading to stress reduction.

Possible stress reduction by means of problem-related coping and emotional coping depending on hospital structure and culture.

We present a German version of the Prejudice towards People with Mental Illness Scale in long (PPMI-D

    ) and short form (PPMI-D

) and provide a psychometric evaluation in a German population sample.

After German translation (including back-translation), an online survey (N = 1004) was conducted.

Item difficulty and selectivity are in the desirable medium range. Internal consistencies are high to excellent (PPMI-D

    α = 0.919; PPMI-D

α = 0.872) in the overall scale. Confirmatory factor analyses confirm the 4 subscales of the original scale. Medium correlations are found with authoritarian attitudes (KSA-3) and low negative correlations with social desirability (KSE-G). Norm values for the PPMI subscales are reported.

The PPMI-D can be used in German-speaking countries to survey prejudice towards people with mental illness.

User acceptance of digital health interventions in light to moderate depressive disorders has been rudimentarily researched and is examined in this study.

Problem-centered individual interviews were conducted with 3 affected persons, 3 relatives and 13 health care professionals. The data evaluation was based on the structured qualitative content analysis.

Along the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology attitudes of affected persons, relatives and health care professionals were presented. Expectations of performance and the supportive framework conditions were the most significant influencing predictors for the positive intention to use.

The results provide a basis for prioritizing needs and attitudes in next step. In terms of ethical, sustainable and economical use further research on user acceptance is required.
