On multivariate analysis, the mortality risk of PC patients aged 40-80 years was twice that of patients aged 80 years had a mortality risk three times that of patients aged less then 40 years. The survival rate of PC patients has improved in the last few decades. Age at diagnosis is a significant and negative prognostic factor for PC, and patients diagnosed at a relatively earlier stage had the best survival.Current explanatory concepts suggest seizures emerge from ongoing dynamics of brain networks. It is unclear how brain network properties determine focal or generalised seizure onset, or how network properties can be described in a clinically-useful manner. Understanding network properties would cast light on seizure-generating mechanisms and allow to quantify to which extent a seizure is focal or generalised. Functional brain networks were estimated in segments of scalp-EEG without interictal discharges (68 people with epilepsy, 38 controls). Simplified brain dynamics were simulated using a computer model. We introduce Critical Coupling (Cc), the ability of a network to generate seizures; Onset Index (OI), the tendency of a region to generate seizures; and Participation Index (PI), the tendency of a region to become involved in seizures. Cc was lower in both patient groups compared with controls. OI and PI were more variable in focal-onset than generalised-onset cases. In focal cases, the regions with highest OI and PI corresponded to the side of seizure onset. Properties of interictal functional networks from scalp EEG can be estimated using a computer model and used to predict seizure likelihood and onset patterns. This may offer potential to enhance diagnosis through quantification of seizure type using inter-ictal recordings. The elite maize hybrid Zhengdan 958 (ZD958), which has high and stable yield and extensive adaptability, is widely grown in China. To elucidate the genetic basis of yield and its related traits in this elite hybrid, a set of doubled haploid (DH) lines derived from ZD958 were evaluated in four different environments at two locations over two years, and a total of 49 quantitative trait loci (QTL) and 24 pairs of epistatic interactions related to yield and yield components were detected. FTY-720 in vitro Furthermore, 21 QTL for six investigated phenotypic traits were detected across two different sites. Combining the results of these QTL in each environment and across both sites, three main QTL hotspots were found in chromosomal bins 2.02, 2.05-2.06, and 6.05 between the simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers umc1165-bnlg1017, umc1065-umc1637, and nc012-bnlg345, respectively. The existence of three QTL hotspots associated with various traits across multiple environments could be explained by pleiotropic QTL or multiple tightly linked QTL. These genetic regions could provide targets for genetic improvement, fine mapping, and marker-assisted selection in future studies. The optimal time to adjuvant chemotherapy (TTC) for breast cancer (BC) patients remains uncertain. Herein, we aim to evaluate the association between TTC and prognosis among different subtypes in modern era of adjuvant chemotherapy. BC patients receiving operation and adjuvant chemotherapy between January 2009 and December 2015 were included. Enrolled patients were categorized into TTC ≤4 weeks and >4 weeks groups. Relapse-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) were compared according to TTC and analyzed among different BC molecular subtypes. A total of 2611 patients were included. Elder age (P = 0.005), more comorbidities (P 4 weeks may increase risk of relapse or death in TNBC patients, which deserves further clinical evaluation.Whereas an RBE > 1 is described for very low-energy X-ray beams (in the range of 25-50 kV), there is a consensus that the RBE of X-rays (from 0.1 to 3 MeV) is equal to 1, whatever the energy or dose rate of the beam. Comparisons of X-ray beam dose rates are scarce even though these beams are widely used in medical diagnosis or radiotherapy. By using two dose rates (0.63 and 2.5 Gy.min-1) of high-energy X-rays on normal endothelial cells (HUVECs), we have studied the clonogenic assay, but also viability/mortality, cell cycle analysis and measured cellular senescence by flow cytometry, and have performed gene analysis on custom arrays. In order to consolidate these data, we performed localized irradiation of exteriorized small intestine at 0.63 and 2.5 Gy.min-1. Interestingly, in vivo validation has shown a significantly higher loss of weight at the higher dose when irradiating to 19 Gy a small fragment of exteriorized small intestine of C57Bl6J mice. Nevertheless, no significant differences were observed in lesioned scores between the two dose rates, while bordering epithelium staining indicated twofold greater severe damage at 2.5 Gy.min-1 compared to 0.63 Gy.min-1 at one week post-irradiation. Taken together, these experiments systematically show that the relative biological effectiveness of photons is different from 1 when varying the dose rate of high-energy X-rays. Moreover, these results strongly suggest that, in support of clonogenic assay, multiparametric analysis should be considered to provide an accurate evaluation of the outcome of irradiated cells.Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a progressive muscle disease, characterized by mutations in the X-linked dystrophin, that has several therapeutic options but no curative treatment. Transplantation of muscle progenitor cells for treatment of DMD has been widely investigated; however, its application is hindered by limited cell survival due to the harmful dystrophic microenvironment. An alternative approach to utilize progenitor cells and circulatory factors and to improve the dystrophic muscle pathology and microenvironment is through parabiotic pairing, where mice are surgically sutured to create a joint circulatory system. Parabiotic mice were generated by surgically joining wild type (WT) mice expressing green fluorescent protein (GFP) with mdx mice. These mice developed a common circulation (approximately 50% green cells in the blood of mdx mice) 2-weeks after parabiotic pairing. We observed significantly improved dystrophic muscle pathology, including decreased inflammation, necrotic fibers and fibrosis in heterogenetic parabionts.
