    Large-cell carcinoma (LCC) of the lung is defined as an undifferentiated non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and accounts for approximately 7.5% of lung cancers. Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) may be effective for LCC, but there has been no firm evidence due to its low frequency. We herein report an 80-year-old woman with LCC of the lung who was successfully treated with pembrolizumab but developed sclerosing cholangitis as an immune-related adverse event. This case highlights the efficacy of ICIs for LCC as well as the importance of the immediate and detailed management of ICI-related sclerosing cholangitis.The adverse reaction of Black Hairy Tongue (BHT) caused by linezolid is rare. We reports a case of linezolid-induced BHT, and reviews relevant literatures at home and abroad. It aims to provide a safe and reasonable basis for clinical medication use. A 14-year-old adolescent with pneumonia caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) developed a rash and pruritus due to Vancomycin. INDY inhibitor clinical trial Instead, the patient was given linezolid 600mg q12h in injection during hospitalization and in tablet after discharge. On the 14th day after injection and the second day after oral administration the patient showed BHT without other abnormal taste symptoms. But all the symptoms could be tolerated and he completed the therapy course of linezolid. Tongue symptoms completely disappeared on the 8th day after drug withdrawal. Based on the Karch and Lasagna evaluation methods and the cause-and-effect evaluation methods of the WHO collaborating center for international adverse drug reaction (ADR) monitoring, it is likely that this patient had a BHT caused by linezolid. The mean time of occurrence of BHT was 14.36 days, and the mean time of symptom disappearance was 23.43 days after drug administration. When linezolid is prescribed to patients, especially those with atopy, the patient’s tongue should be closely observed and good oral hygiene is recommended.

    The present study evaluates and compares the effectiveness of Simvastatin (SIM), Hydroxyapatite (HA), and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) in bone regeneration of periapical defects.

    Thirty-nine patients were selected and randomized into three groups, Group 1 HA (n=13), Group 2 PRF (n=13), Group 3 SIM (n=13). After completion of RCT and apicoectomy, the grafts were placed locally in the defect and sutured.

    At the end of twelve months, postoperative symptoms and radiographic analysis assessed the outcome of the treatment.

    Intragroup analysis of CBCT- Periapical Index (PAI) scores at 6th and 12th month revealed a significant change in the SIM group (p=0.018 and 0.001 respectively), compared to PRF (p=0.026 and 0.001 respectively) and HA (p=0.053 and 0.039 respectively). Intergroup analysis of change in the level of CBCT-PAI score was highly significant (p=0.003).SIM caused a more considerable change in the level of CBCT-PAI score compared to other groups, thereby indicating a faster rate of bone regeneration.

However, it is also reported that schools and teaching staff note many barriers, which may restrict nutritional education programming and delivery. This is concerning, considering the view that teachers are the key agents for promoting health and nutrition within schools. The purpose of the updated systematic review and meta-analysis was to ascertain the impact that nutrition education programs have on elementary-aged students’ energy intake, fruit, vegetable, sugar consumption and nutritional knowledge. A systematic literature search was conducted using electronic databases (The Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL); A + Education; ERIC; PsycINFO; MEDLINE; ProQuest Central, Journals@Ovid and SAGE Health Sciences Full-Text Collection) from 1990 to 31st October 2018. This process yielded 34 studies for inclusion in this systematic review and meta-analysis. Of these studies, seven studies had a focus on energy intake, five had a focus on sugar consumption, 21 of the studies looked at fruit and vegetable consumption and 13 studies focused on nutritional knowledge. The results suggest that the teaching of nutrition education in elementary schools by qualified teachers can make an important contribution to the knowledge and dietary habits of children. The small and medium effect sizes indicate that prudent, evidence-based decisions need to be made by policy makers and pedagogues as to the teaching strategies employed when delivering nutrition education programs to elementary-aged students. The review is reported in accordance to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines (van Sluijs et al., 2007).

    Innovative and minimally toxic treatment approaches are sorely needed for the prevention and treatment of hematopoietic acute radiation syndrome (H-ARS). Cell therapies have been increasingly studied for their potential use as countermeasures for accidental and intentional ionizing radiation exposures which can lead to fatal ARS. Mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs) are a cell therapy that have shown promising results in preclinical studies of ARS, and are being developed in clinical trials specifically for H-ARS. MSCs, MSC-educated macrophages (MEMs) and MSC-exosome educated macrophages (EEMs) all have the potential to be used as adoptive cell therapies for H-ARS. Here we review how MSCs have been reported to mitigate inflammation from radiation injury while also stimulating hematopoiesis during ARS.

    We discuss emerging work with immune cell subsets educated by MSCs, including MEMs and EEMs, in promoting hematopoiesis in xenogeneic models of ARS. We also discuss the first placental-derived MSC product to enter phase I trials, PLX-R18, and the challenges faced by bringing MSC and other cell therapies into the clinic for treating ARS.
