    Newcastle-Ottawa scale (NOS) was used for quality assessment of included studies. Meta-analysis was used to estimate the risk of disease. We conducted a subgroup analysis of duration of follow-up, adjusted (adjusted RR vs. unadjusted RR), sample size, study design and region.

    A total of 9 independent studies assessing 150556 patients were included in this analysis. In this meta-analysis, we found that there was a nonsignificant increase of PN with statins exposure (RR 1.26, 95% CI (0.92-1.74)). Our results revealed that there was no significant association between statins exposure and peripheral neuropathy risk.

    There is a great need for low-intensity, scalable treatments in primary care, where most anxious patients first present for treatment. We describe Stage IA treatment development and a Stage IB feasibility trial of cognitive bias modification (CBM) for transdiagnostic anxiety in primary care.

    The online intervention, Mental Habits, comprised eight sessions of a personalized CBM targeting attention and interpretation biases. Coaches assisted patients in using the website, monitored progress via a dashboard, and shared information with primary care providers. We evaluated Mental Habits in an open trial (N = 14) and a randomized controlled trial (RCT) (N = 40) in primary care patients with anxiety disorders.

    We compared results to a priori benchmarks of clinically meaningful outcomes. In the open trial, Mental Habits met feasibility, acceptability, and efficacy benchmarks. In the pilot RCT, there was greater dropout at one study site which ultimately closed. In the intent-to-treat analyses, Mental Habits me primary care patients to self-administer CBM. Offering a low-intensity, self-directed anxiety intervention in primary care can greatly expand the reach of anxiety treatment, with minimal need for additional resources. Interpretation bias may be an important clinical target for primary care patients with anxiety.

Nonetheless, their selective action is not restricted to a single species and expanded to humans. No studies are available on the toxicological effects of carbofuran in the endothelial cells (ECs), which first confronts the toxicants in blood vessels. Hence, we have exposed the human umbilical vein ECs (HUVECs) with carbofuran for 24 h, which significantly reduced the cell survival to 25.16% and 33.48% at 500 and 1,000 μM analyzed by MTT assay. In the neutral red uptake (NRU) assay, 16.68%, 30.99%, and 58.11% survival decline was found at 250, 500, and 1,000 μM of carbofuran. HUVECs exposed to carbofuran showed significant increase in the intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS), indicating oxidative stress at low concentrations. In parallel, HUVECs showed hyperpolarization effects in the mitochondrial membrane potential (ΔΨm) upon carbofuran exposure. Carbofuran induced DNA damage in HUVECs measured as 8.80, 11.82, 35.56, and 79.69 Olive tail moment (OTM) in 100-, 250-, 500-, and 1,000-μM exposure groups. Flow cytometric analysis showed apoptotic peak (SubG1) and G2M arrest in the HUVECs exposed to carbofuran. Overall, our novel data confirm that carbofuran is toxic for the EC cells, especially at the higher concentrations, which may affect the vascular functions and possibly angiogenesis. Hence, carbofuran should be applied judiciously, and detailed vascular studies are warranted to gain an in-depth information focusing the transcriptomic and translation changes employing suitable in vivo and in vitro test models.Shrinkage estimation in a meta-analysis framework may be used to facilitate dynamical borrowing of information. This framework might be used to analyze a new study in the light of previous data, which might differ in their design (e.g., a randomized controlled trial and a clinical registry). We show how the common study weights arise in effect and shrinkage estimation, and how these may be generalized to the case of Bayesian meta-analysis. Next we develop simple ways to compute bounds on the weights, so that the contribution of the external evidence may be assessed a priori. These considerations are illustrated and discussed using numerical examples, including applications in the treatment of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease and in fetal monitoring to prevent the occurrence of metabolic acidosis.     We hypothesized that variability in practice exists for newborn immunohematology testing due to lack of consensus guidelines. We report the results of a survey assessing that variability at hospitals in the United States and Canada.

    An AABB Pediatric Subsection working party developed and validated a survey of newborn immunohematology testing practice. The survey was sent electronically to transfusion service leadership at teaching institutions.

    The response rate was 67% (61/91); 56 surveys meeting inclusion criteria were analyzed. Approximately 90% (50/56) were from birth hospitals and 16.1% (9/56) were from pediatric hospitals. Newborn immunohematology testing is ordered as a panel by 66.0% (33/50) of birth hospitals. ABO group and DAT is mandated before discharge in 14/56 (25.0%) and 13/56 (23.2%), respectively.
