    Minecraft star Stampy Cat to give an RSE Christmas message

    YouTube and Minecraft legend Stampy Cat is to deliver an educational program in front of 2,000 schoolchildren in Dundee.

    Stampy the real name of the man was Joseph Garrett, will deliver the Royal Society of Edinburgh’s Christmas Lecture in Caird Hall on Monday.

    The creator of the “Let’s Play” videos for Minecraft and other games has more than 6.7m users on his YouTube channel.

    The lecture will be shown exclusively on BBC iPlayer next Thursday.

    BBC Scotland reported that Minecraft fans will have the opportunity to watch Stampy demonstrate how he creates his videos during a discussion with Chris van der Kuyl, Dundee games entrepreneur.

    Stampy will tell his story of how he made Christmas special and give insight into his life.

    Mr. van der Kuyl said Stampy was the “epitome of the 21st Century digital native” who could inspire audiences regardless of their age.

    “Stampy is an inspiration to an entire new generation of young people who clearly see that the future of careers will rely on a unique mix of talents in the arts, creativity, and technical design skills that can be mastered by everyone,” he added.

    The RSE lecture will be screened as part of the BBC Make it Digital initiative to encourage digital creativity amongst young people.
